Give
the Gift of Riding the Range
If you are looking for the perfect gift for the friend or family member
who has everything, how about a morning or afternoon jaunt through the
New Forest on horseback. You can be a seasoned rider or a complete
tenderfoot; they will take all kinds on this spectacular two-hour ride
through the depths of the New Forest. This is a gift that can be given
any time of the year for a half day of sheer enjoyment in the great
outdoors.
The supplier of this excursion is approved by the British Horse Society
for Western Trail Riding, and has a stunning array of appaloosa and
"paint" horses in full western turnout to add to the atmosphere of
adventure and fun. Throughout the ride, you will cross breathtaking
meadows on the open plains, ride through the shady undergrowth of wooded
enclosures and take in a babbling brook or two. The trail is gentle and
the horses are tame on this peaceful, relaxing ride across some of the
most scenic areas of the New Forest.
This outing is designed for up to twelve riders on the trail at a time.
The times for the rides can vary slightly, but the typical schedule is
9:30, 1:30 or 4:30 daily. The rides are closed on Mondays and Christmas
and New Year's Days. The treks go out all year round in any type of
weather, and refunds are not available for inclement weather conditions.
While there is no specific dress code of western wear, riders are
encouraged to wear blue jeans, or other long trousers, and boots with a
slight heel - flat-soled shoes are not allowed. Stetsons and hard hats
are supplied by the host. Riders must be at least twelve years old to
participate, and weigh no more than 15st.
If you have never taken a horseback ride before, there is nothing that
can inspire a sense of adventure and communing with nature like seeing
the countryside on a horse. It is important for new riders to find a
company that will provide tame, gentle horses that will be easy to
handle and a trail that will be easy to follow. It is also a good idea
not to overdo on your first outing, since your body is not accustomed to
position and motion that is required for riding. You will also want a
guide that puts you at ease and helps you to enjoy the experience. This
ride through the New Forest is the perfect ticket. Happy trails!
